How do i configure a microphone for voice chat?

i think i might need to change my ports? How do i configure a microphone for voice chat?
Generally no configuration is necessary. Just get a mic, plug it in, and you're up and running.

But I guess that doesn't work for u ?

Well, first ensure the mic works with the PC - Windows Sound Recorder is an easy way to do this.

Then if that's ok, try it in YM Preferences, Calling %26amp; Aidio, Call Setup Assistant.

If THAT's ok, final step is to try %26quot;live%26quot; with someone else.

How far do you get along that path before you strike trouble (and what exactly is the problem) ?How do i configure a microphone for voice chat?
depending on what you use, it should opt you to configuer it when you first plug it in, or go to volume controlsHow do i configure a microphone for voice chat?
go into your volume control (in windows)

Click Options %26gt; Properties

It should be on playback. Change it to recording.

Make sure that Microphone is checked and the hit ok.

When it goes back to the main screen make sure that the checkbox under microphone is checked and also that the slider is up a bit so that it picks up some sound. This should do the trick assuming everything else is working (the mic, the soundcard, and that you have it plugged into the right port)

Hope this helps!
