i have a dell laptop, Inspiron 1545, with vista premium. i use a digital camera, fujifilm Finepix Z20 FD, with a Centrios 4 GB Pro Series memory card, with 150x read speed. Only problem is, i use the memory card ports to upload pictures, and it will only allow me to once a day. I take many pictures, and like to upload frequently, so this is a great inconvienence to me. It might be trying to connect to your computer through a port on the ethernet that is blocked by your firewall. You would have to go into your firewall program and give utorrent permission to use the port number you're having a problem with.

If you turn off the firewall you should have no problem - BUT you'll be inviting all manner of bad news software.

I don't think so you have to make changes on device manager if you are just to plug a USB cable. Your computer will just automatically find a new hardware plugged in your computer.

Ok, yesterday i wanted to update my ipod so i plugged it in and i got an error message about my USB malfunctioning and then my ipod was frozen on %26quot;do not disconnect%26quot;. I unfroze it and tried again. Same thing. Then I changed ports and same problem. I kept unfreezing and got rid of the songs I added thinking them might be messing it up. I plugged it in and I thought it was fine. When I checked it the next day when I wanted to use it everything was gone. Well it might be a new problem with itunes because i know when i got the newest one it wouldent open at all and i had to go on a site to get an older one but its probobly not that. maybe if you run out the battery and charge it up again. it worked for me once. what kind of ipod is it because when i had a shuffle it always did that and for some reason throwing it helped...:)

Alright, I think we're going to need a bit more information. What happens when you try to join chats or games? Are you completely unable to join them or do you just get booted when you try to join them? Also, what speed connection do you have? If you're running DSL or some connection around the 1.5 mbps speed, you're connection may be to slow or laggy for Xbox Live. If you've got Cable through Comcast or something similar it's probably not your connection.

I can't plug any USBs in?

I constantly get an error saying USB Device not recognized. Nothing works, not my ipod, not my camera, not my brothers ipod - ive changed ports, ive changed cables - absolutely nothing. I've restarted my computer, I've plugged out my computer. My internets been having issues. The weird thing is everything that's plugged in before i restart my computer works (my printer, my mouse, my keyboard...) I've ran a scan for hardware defects via the command prompt (sorry if my wording is off I've never done commands)... sfc/scan now was the command and it essentially told me that the files required must be copied into the DLL cache which means Absolutely zip to me and to install the Windows cd [i have xp] ... This is all because your computer USB drive is broken. I would take it to your closest computer hardware store and tell them about it. Then they should fix it four about 20-40 bucks.

first off let me say i dont care what you are using limewire for (legit or otherwise) it is not a good system. I worked in IT in college and saw quite a few people come in for help because limewire messed up their computer. you could try to disable your firewall altogether and see if limewire works but that will leave you open for as long as the firewall is down. if limewire works when the firewall is down then you know its the firewall, if not there is something else going on with limewire. i cant really be more thorough than his without being able to see your computer, what operating system you're using, or limewires internal preferences.

that being said, try to get a torrent application like bittorrent, azerus, uTorrent (my personal favorite), or tomato torrent (for macs) that you are comfortable using, they take a little bit of effort to set up but work way better and are way safer.

Make sure you have proper entries of servelet url mapping as servlet/HelloWorld

You need to supply your username and password for the account that you have paid them for POP/SMTP access for. I don't think you can do it with the free access. It used to be called Yahoo Mail Plus or something like that. I think it is $20/year.

If one of the usb ports is still working you can try a usb hub. That will give you more usb ports. the hub will have 4 or more ports. It basically converts 1 to 4.

It sounds like you want to set up a network between the 40 flats, and attach the internet to the network. 2Mbit internet (which sounds like a standard home user plan) is not nearly going to be enough to split between 40 people - ideally the bandwidth would be split evenly between everyone (so everyone would get 50kbps, which is not much faster than dial-up), but very likely most of the bandwidth would go towards a few people, depending on who was doing what (downloading, streaming videos etc.). There is no point installing DSL internet in flats if the people in them can get faster internet via dial-up. I would recommend ether getting several modems and connections, and splitting up the 40 flats over the several modems, or talking to your ISP about getting a business line, which would enable you to supply your flats with a much better DSL connection.

Also note that by networking the flats together, rather than giving each one a separate modem, this means that people in different flats can access each other's computers over the network, which usually is not a good thing. I think you can get special hardware that you use instead of a switch that stops this, or you would just need to inform your flatters of this, so they can disable sharing on their computer etc.

I tried to connect my Nintendo DS Wi-Fi USB connector to one of the USB ports on my Logitech G11 keyboard but my computer says the port does not supply enough power to support it. I want to connect it to my keyboard because it is very convenient to plug and unplug it there.

You probably have to keep it connected to xbl while you're trying to do it. If you have a lonksys router, then just have you're ISP (Internet Service Provider) go onto the setup page and there should be a tab at the top for gaming. I am running Ubuntu. I recently switched over from Windows Vista with a reformat. A lot of my hardware is very temperamental. I have 2 USB hubs chained together, and it seems like my USB hardware (Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse, external sound card, MIDI hub, USB hubs, HP Printer/Scanner) work sometimes and don't others. I also have a TV I use as a monitor, and that sometimes is fuzzy. With the USB ports though, many times, I have to unplug and replug the device in to get it to work. I have to change ports, and when I get something that works, if I restart the system, it's a roll of the dice as to what you're going to get when it boots back up. I'm having wireless printing problems with my HP Photosmart C4380 All-in-One and my laptops, and HP attempted to fix the problem over the phone, but to no avail. When I was in college in 1998-2003, you were able to play behind the same router. Given that Battle.net was in its infancy stages along with the two main games I played Starcraft and Diablo, there were not a lot of restrictions. Now that Starcraft 2 is on its way, my buddy and I tried to reconfigure Starcraft like we did 6 years ago. Connecting 2 computers behind the same router no longer works. Battle.net does not allow proxy servers, because everything now is all external IP's linked to other external IP addresses. Go buy Starcraft for under $20. The amount of time you're spending on figuring out a workaround is costing you more than $20! Do not need the ports open to play a single player then you shouldn't need them at all. So you would remove them. If on the other hand you do need them then you have a routing problem in the 2 player scenario as you are only specifying the route to one machine. In this case the traffic is presumed to look the same be it yours or your dads. You don't want his data getting sent to you.
The issue appears to me to be one of two things. Either your just don't get enough bandwidth or your router is getting confused.
You may even try turning off any firewall features like SPI.
The 514 is an older and pretty basic model. You might try a newer router. I really like my DGL - 4300. There are other nice new routers that are a little cheaper. the Dir-625 is pretty good too.
If it is a lack of bandwidth then the router is not going to help. You may try speedtest.net to see what kind of response (ping and upload/download speed) you get. The lag is generally caused by higher latency which is measured as a ping. The upload can also be a big factor as games tend to run prettty evenly up and down but internet connections are typically faster down than up. I would say offhand that you want 325+ as your upload speed if you are getting 100-200 that is likely the issue. If your ping is over 70 to a good nearby server that is also likely a playability issue with your connection.
Record your speedtest.net numbers to a couple servers. Then fire up a game of starcraft on the other computer and run speedtest again to get an idea how much the game is affecting the second computer.

First go to your command prompt, have some fun with youtube. While you're in the normal command prompt (start%26gt;%26gt;run%26gt;%26gt;type in cmd) type in ping www.youtube.com. This will give you an ip address, once you have this, type in telnet. If this doesn't work do what the other guy did and start%26gt;%26gt;run%26gt;%26gt;services.msc. Once you have enabled telnet (if you needed to) type in %26quot;open%26quot; and the ip address. It should say %26quot;connecting to 208.65.153.238%26quot;. If it fails to connect on a port like mine did fail to connect on port 23, then the port is busy. There are sites out there with ip addresses for pinging and telnetting, but with all of this you need to be careful, because if you get into someone else's computer and mess something up, you could get in some serious trouble. If the person posts an ip address for you to have some fun with, then it's ok. I used to have a site bookmarked on my other laptop with an ip address to use. If you type in FTP into your command prompt and type in %26quot;open%26quot; youtube.com, you could open the port to change their files and stuff on their website (if you would be lucky enough to guess the password correctly).

Your firewall could be blocking telnet.

If its a port needs opening its more likely on your router, usually under NAT (Network Address Translation), Virtual server on the routers config pages.

TRIPLE CHECK, that you are typing all your information correct, and that caps lock is NOT on. if that is not the case, try reseting your PC to clear the RAM and reset the ports. If this doesn't work try reseting your router and modem. If by now none of this has worked, open your program files and find World of warcraft, run the repair bot and let it go, check all of the boxes when it prompts. If the screen goes blank, that means that there is a service running on your machine that's already using port 80.

Do the same Telnet command for port 443, and see if it's using it.

I wanna connect multiple computers in one household so that I can remote desktop into them. My idea is to have my home router redirect certain ports to certain computers... How can I tell the computer that's outside the network to use a certain port to connect? You cant see the timing belt. Its behind the front cover. If you are referring to the drive belts, I would replace them if they are in need of changing. I have seldom worked on any hondas, however, the use of underdrive pulleys is old hat in hot rodding. You will undoubtably have to change length of your belt on an accessory drive, but I question your use of an underdrive pulley as being related to a timing belt. Unless both pulleys for crank and cam are changed, it would not be possible for them to stay in time, and changing them both would have no purpose as far as power gain. If I have misunderstood your question, please pardon my interuption. If you are changing an accessory drive that is actually driven from the timing belt(is that actually done on hondas?) then there may be a small change in length, all dependent upon difference of the two diameters and how many degrees of the pulley circle it contacts. Using pi (3.14) times change in diameter divided by the fraction of degrees contacting the pulley should give you the difference in length.1993 HONDA CIVIC! You shouldnt have to mess with the timing chain, but you will have to take off the accessory belts (A/C, power steering, alternator) when changing out the pulley. your timing belt replacement is an advanced project and you dont need to do it yourself (leave it to the pros). it is easy to change the pullies. just get or rent or find a clicker torq wrench. but it isnt needed. you should get a friend who will help. it will be more fun with an extra set of hands. it shouldnt take you very long and its a good upgrade. good luck and have fun! get any performance parts off the %26quot;bay%26quot; they will be half price...

If it pointing to the modem, then talk to the isp.

if it pointing to your router, this is a good thing.

with cheap routers .. say sub $500 .. usually you put your static IP on the router and then use port forwarding. easy, but varies from router to router.

The idea is to say any traffic coming in on port 80 (web) will be pushed to port 80 on your web server. This works best if you give your web server a static nat'ed ip. The NAT static ip address will be an ip address that is below or above the range of dhcp addresses that are being served up by the dhcp server (usually the cheap router)

If you bought a fancier connection, the the router will have a static ip address, and the box will have a different ip, and you will have to use true routing. here, let the isp help you.

I think the fact that you have an external modem is the problem. Not really sure how to fix that though. One thing I do know is that a standard modem is probably not enough speed for a webserver. If it's a DSLor Cable modem, it might be fine but that would not explain your problem.

On the tool bar at the top of the utorrent page click on the cog, when the panel opens up click on connection and then click on random port. I dont have access to a belkin router but you can probably find it by looking at the manual or online help. In a linksys its a section called applications and gaming. Just log into your router and look at all the screens. There should be one that allows you to enter port mappings. You will need your PC's IP address. Go to start then run and type cmd and hit enter. Then type ipconfig and hit enter. This will display your IP address. You will want to open up the ports for your game and point them to your IP address. Keep in mind that if your games stop working your IP address might have changed.

The message is telling you %26quot;The device you plugged into the USB port is capable of using USB 2.0 and you have plugged it into a slower USB port.%26quot;.

In other words the message is for the device (not your computer).

If you had a desktop you would be able to purchase a USB 2.0 card, plug it into a PCI slot, run the software (that came with the new card) and you would then have USB 2.0 which is quite a lot faster.

Since you have a laptop you don't have that option so all you can do is ignore the message.

If you have not done so already, go to start/ my network places/ then under network tasks you need to setup a network or a wireless network for home or office whichever is right for you. I think you need to do that on all computers involved. Just follow the instructions. This is where you need to be careful. Opening a port in the FireWall is like asking for trouble and intrusion will be open.

OK..Safest way is to it the old fashion way. Download to another drive weather it be an External Hard Drive of a usb thumb drive and then run your Anti Virus software through the files first.

These steps are a little awkward but they are SAFE..So many are picking up Virus's by opening the Firewall port. The headache's are not worth it.

I've got a 54gs router which is may be the same as yours. It doesn't have very good functionality for blocking outbound internet access, and you cannot throttle bandwidth on a per user basis.

They can still download stuff through ports 80 and 443, but you could limit their options by blocking any ports above 443.

If you find the MAC address of your neighbours computer(s), you could set up an %26quot;internet access policy%26quot; specifically for you neighbour which is configured to allow access 24 hours/day.

Then under %26quot;blocked services%26quot; add the user-defined port range of 444 to 65534 / TCP

How do I speed up downloading (of torrents/mp3s etc) through a university firewall?

i have just moved to university, and i would like to start dloading again, like when at home, using azureus and torrents etc. However i have tried this, and i get very slow speeds, and it always gets cut off. ive tried changing ports etc, and that doesnt seem to work. I know its there so i dont take up everyone else's bandwidth, so i would never do it during the day. i just leave it on overnite. I don't know about your particular cameras settings, but this is the basic way from windows. You don't need to use the software that came with the camera. Plug one end of the USB cable into the camera, and the other end in a USB port on your computer. After a few seconds, you shoud see a additional drive appear under %26quot;My Computer%26quot;. Keep clicking these icons until your pictures show up. It's easier if you use the %26quot;thumbnail%26quot; option. Then you can so what you want with the pictures. Some routers do not allow changing this, but you do not need to. The port should be blocked from external access for security, in which case you simply set external port 80 forwarded to the internal IP address of your server.

As far as connecting to your home machines.

Here are 2 ways to do it

1 - the easy way

Go on the web and create an account on one of the free remote control web sites. I use Logmein.com Creating an account is free

On each of your home computers, do the following

Go to the account you created and add the computer to the account. Use the free version of the software

Follow the prompts and install the software on each machine.

Now from your office computer, go to the web, open your account, select the computer you want and log in

Because the software you installed on each computer keeps the web site updated, and the authorization come from the machine, you do not have to worry about IP addresses, VPN Tunnels, routers or firewalls

The connection is encrypted and secured, making this the best way to work over the web

2 - If you really want to use VNC

You said have the viewer set up on your office machine and the server set up on the home machines.

Set up remote administration on your router

Now set up port forwarding on your router so that you forward a unique port to each home machine.

Get the Internet IP address that your ISP has assigned to you.

When you need to contact a machine at home, enter the IP address of the router, and the remote administration port (Format is xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxx as in 64.10.120.255:2120) and use remote administration to enable the port forwarding entry that you need

Have your VNC viewer contact the server on the machine using the correct port

Be sure to close all ports when you are done

Because the ISP changes your IP address from time to time, you will need to keep track of the routers IP address. This is why I recommend the web based system
