How can I configure my browser to browse the net on another port?

Do you think i can configure my internet browser to browse on another port rather than the default port 8080? for instance can i change it to port used for Internet call? e.g port 27079 or port 1165?How can I configure my browser to browse the net on another port?
Normally, most web servers listen on port 80 for a browser to make a request for a file (page), and that is really where things are controlled. Ultimately you will have connect to a web site on the Internet via port 80, unless it is explicity part of the URL (i.e. http://www.yourdomain.com:27079 - in order for this to work the web server must be listening on port 27079 or it will just timeout trying to connect.

You can set your browser to use a different port by setting the proxy server settings in the connection window - my guess, however, is that if your browser is already using 8080, there is probably a proxy/firewall on your network.

To summarize - by changing the proxy settings in your web browser, you can force all LAN requests to use a different port as they will then be directed to a proxy/firewall where those requests are then sent out on port 80 over the Internet. How can I configure my browser to browse the net on another port?
I know this doesn't answer your question, but when I first glanced at it, I thought you wanted to browse on another 'planet', which would not be possible (in case anybody was going to try). How can I configure my browser to browse the net on another port?
Open up Internet Explorer and type %26quot;http://192.168.0.1%26quot; without the quotes. This will ask for a name and password for your modem. The name is %26quot;admin%26quot; and the password is %26quot;password%26quot;. When you are in there, you can forward your port from default, to any port that you desire. Just make sure you save the settings, and reset your modem. How can I configure my browser to browse the net on another port?
