Problem with forwarding ports for uTorrent 1.8 using a SpeedTouch 536 v6 router?
I'm aware that this question may be a bit confusing, but I'll do my best to make it clear enough.
So, when using uTorrent 1.7.7, I had no problems with ports after performing port forwarding - everything was opened and there was that green icon at the bottom of uTorrent saying that everything was fine.
Unfortunately, straight after the upgrade to uTorrent 1.8, I've started receiving this red icon with the exclamation mark in it. I asked a question at the uTorrent's forum about it and here I'd like to show you the mst important information I provided in the question:

I also said there that I was changing the ports in the router and uTorrent a couple of times, upgraded from stable uTorrent 1.8 to uTorrent 1.8.1 Beta Build 11962, then reversed back to the stable version as there was no difference after installing the build one, added the TCP and UPD port (55827) to the Windows' firewall (uTorrent is also listed in the exceptions list) and that none of these things solved the problem. I also said that after the installation of uTorrent 1.8, I also installed the tunneling %26quot;IPv6/Terendo%26quot; support (which didn't help anyway) and that after deleting uTorrent 1.8 and cleaning the registries with CCleaner, the option to install %26quot;IPv6/Terendo%26quot; support was once again available.
As it is also important, I said there that there are two computers in my home network, from which my has a static IP address assigned by me and the other one has its IP assigned by DHCP.
Upon the above, I was first advised to enable only the UPnP's %26quot;net.upnp_tcp_only%26quot; in the %26quot;Advanced' tab of uTorrent. I was also told to relaunch the router for this action to take the effect. I relaunched the router from its IE interface, so that I didn't have to play with the button at its rear (I also guess it works just the same) This advice, however did not help. Later, I was told to specify what is the range of DHCP and what IP I had assigned to my computer.
At first, I said that I didn't even know how to find that range even if I wanted to. After not much time, however, I found out that the range spans from 192.168.1.64 to 192.168.1.253 . The router's IP is 192.168.1.254 and the IP that I had assigned to my computer is 192.168.1.200 . I was surprised upon the range, because:
1. As far as I know, the IP that I assign to my computer should be outside the DHCP range.
2. The IP address that I had assigned to my computer works, for instance, for eMule.
I've also noticed that the other computer's IP changes each time the router gets relaunched (which doesn't happen very often).

Regarding the fact that there is only one computer in my home network that obtains its IP address from the DHCP Pool, I guess it doesn't need to be so wide. Besidwes, I can't set my Computer's IP as, for example, 192.168.1.255, because then Windows says that:

That's why I've thought of lowering it a bit. Setting it, for instance, from 192.168.1.64 to 192.168.1.199 and thus leave the one for my computer with 200 that is set already.

I'm at university and there is a firewall blocking stuff i try to download. For example i want to dload something using azureus. I get one or two seeds connected if im lucky, and i dload at a rate of maybe 2kb/s max. and thats for maybe the odd minute every half an hour or something. ive tried changing the ports i use, and they all seem to be blocked or in use etc etc. So if anyone knows a way of beating it, that would be greatly appreciated. And also i think i cant ask any I.T supervisors here. The firewall is there for a real reason. The University resources are for scholarly purposes only. You shouldn't be trying to rob others of Internet resources for any other purpose. If you are trying to telnet into a server, you have to use the port that the telnet service is configured for, which by default is port 23.

Actually, as long as you make sure you're not interfering with another application, it's more secure, for a couple reasons.
The biggest reason security increases is that it's uncommon to change port numbers. This means that if a hacker is looking to get into your network or web server, they'll likely scan common open ports, such as 20, 21, 25, 80, 443, etc. Especially with high ports, they don't bother scanning each one (unless they're very determined). With thousands of ports on each computer, it's only efficient for an attacker to look at a dozen or two and judge the computers security based on that.

When changing the router admin page, you have to power cycle the router for it to take effect.
Most routers allow change for %26quot;remote%26quot; administration, not local. Anyway, your access to a server at port 80 has nothing to do with the router's admin page, unless you have remote admin enabled.
For port forward, it has to be a path from the internet, to a machine (PC) on your network (LAN) that is at a static IP address. You cannot port forward to the router itself...

How do you make torrents go faster?
I have large files that i'm downloading with bittorrent program, but they only download at 35 kb/s maximum. You are confusing the maximum specs of the BitTorrent protocol with what is actually available to you. You can't download faster than 35 kb/s if the seeder isn't uploading faster than that. And you can't have more than 13 peers if there aren't more than 13 people who want the file along with you.

If you Have wifi, wich is the same type of Broadband that cellphones use, then you will not be able or need to Port forward. If you have windows XP, one suggestoin woudl be to Patch the tcp/ip.sys file to allow more than the default half open connectoins. Google for tutorial on that, there are many. Hope this helps

For months I have been able to torrent with no problem at high speeds with my port opened.
However, recently (or suddenly) my download speed plunged to unprecedented levels. ( Constantly %26lt; 10kb/s as compared to before: up to 1200 kb/s )
The problems are:
1) There are many seeders.
2) My settings have not been changed (at all) whatsoever.
3) Trying different torrents have offered no remedy.
I am somewhat convinced and justified to believe that my ISP is playing dirty.
I tried a few measures but to no avail:
1) Changing port.
2) Forced encryption.
And yes, how can I determine in what way are they throttling BT traffic? Eg. Blanket throttling on all encrypted traffic / specific ip throttling etcetra
I am using BitComet.

Quite a few ISP's are naughty and LLU you without permission. My ISP Eclipse will LLU you to Tiscali if Tiscali enable your exchange. I've noticed a big drop in speeds since they did this to me.
What I would then do is signup to a free hitnews trial. http://member.hitnews.eu/signup.php?lang
t's only a 3 day trial, but it's 100% free and requires no payment info. This should allow you to max out your connection, see how it varies throughout the day. It should give you a pretty good idea of how much traffic shaping your ISP is subjecting you to.
Many ISP's throttle less at night when demand is less. See how it is early in the morning. I did a few hitnews trials (1 per email address) and I was able to max out my 8meg ADSLmax connection to just over 1000KB/s, but only gone 2AM in the morning.
You can use a usenet client like grabbit and http://www.nzbindex.nl/ to find things to download.
Then run a few speedtests like http://www.speedtest.net/ Often ISP's will allow the speedtests to run at full speed to suggest the ISP is faster than it actually is.

Once you start downloading torrents it is easy to download huge amounts. Some ISPs include uploads in any allowances.
It could be that they are throttling *ALL* your traffic. You would not see it the same on web browsing as that does not need bandwidth the same, similarly email.

If you don't have USB2.0 on your motherboard, try purchasing a new motherboard which has USB2.0 (all the motherboards since 2004-2005 have USB2.0 onboard I believe), or if changing the motherboard is not an option, you can always buy a PCI-to-USB card that complies to the USB2.0.

When you create your account when your under 18, then the parental settings automatically sets it so you can only talk with friends only. This might be why you cant play with people. Why isn't my torrent client connecting to seeds or peers?
about 5 days ago I start up utorrent and its not connecting to seeds or peers, though, it is still sending data. I have tried turning my fire wall off (windows 7) I've tried changing ports still the same problem please help I'm missing How I Met Your Mother!

Im trying to send CNC Programs from my laptop to the machinig center. It wont allow me to do so because of the ports. The machine parameters are set for ports 1 and 2. The laptop is 6 and 7. How do I reconfigure or re-number these ports on the computer? This is the USB Ports we`re talking about. The have to be reassigned. 'Web Server (HTTP)' How to change it or get rid of it.?
In my Windows XP Firewall advanced exceptions I have something called' Web Server (HTTP)' that uses both internal and external port 80. As long as it's using those ports my firewall won't let me make any other exceptions using port 80 which is the port that several of my online games need in order to run. 'Web Server (HTTP)' cannot be deleted or changed inside the firewall and I've used the search program to try and find it to see if anything could be done but evidently it doesn't exist.

How do I setup ports for Mocha VNC [iPhone] when I have two Macs on the router I want to connect to?
So my roommate and I are on the same router. We each have one iMac and one iPhone. We are trying to use Mocha VNC on our iPhones to connect to our Macs. We've gotten each connection to work, but they only work on port 5900 (i.e., I can have his Mac on 5900 and mine on 5901 and his works and mine won't, or I can flip it so I'm on 5900 and he's on 5901 and then mine works and his won't). Obviously, port 5900 can only forward traffic to one IP address (unless I'm ignorant there!)
I'm assuming this is because the Mac itself only has that port available for VNC.
